Geryon

In canto XVII he has the face of a just man and serpent for all the rest: he is fraud given a body, and the first thing you see of him is also the only honest part. In the game the body is five separate pieces, each pivoted on its own joint, head, two wings, tail and trunk, and the head carries a paler skin than the rest: in a single tone he would be one uniform creature and the only honest part of him would not read at all.

He is called as he is in the canto before, the sixteenth: the rope Dante wore around his waist is coiled and thrown «giuso in quell’alto burrato» (Inf. XVI 106-114), and something that swims through the air comes up out of the dark. He takes nine seconds to rise, and they are long on purpose, because he has to become a shape before he becomes a beast; moored at the lip he lifts his muzzle to look whoever is standing there in the face.

You mount in front of the guide, who is already on his back, because the tail is armed. The chapter closes while the descent is still going on, and the fifth picks up exactly there: the saddle, the back and the flying pose are the same lines, not a version that resembles them. Anyone resuming from a save does not fly in again, or they would come back mid air.
