Chapter 1 · The Dark WoodconsumablePlayable
Flask of oil
Two minutes of flame, to be poured into the lamp.

It is the one thing the game adds to the matter of the poem, and it adds it because everything else rests on it: the lamp burns, and when the oil runs out you go blind. It is not used on its own. Press use and the bag does not stay silent and does not pretend: it answers that this goes with the lamp, because a key that does nothing reads as broken.
It pours only if the whole flask fits. With a full lamp the game says so and the flask stays whole; if any would spill, it says how many seconds would be thrown away and pours nothing. Wasting it is still possible, but it becomes a decision rather than an accident. After the pour the line tells oil that went into the burner from oil that went into the reserve, and that difference is what explains why the light did not come back up.
Eight are scattered in the wood, and there were five: a flask is worth two minutes and the lamp starts with seven, so five meant ten minutes of light to be gathered in the whole chapter, and players ended the chapter in the dark.
