The Giants
The towers that are not towers: they stand in the central well, sunk in its bank up to the waist.

In the straight middle of Malebolge a well opens, and around its brink Dante takes for towers what are figures standing in the stone. The game does exactly that and not a step more: from the brink you make out five of them in the fog, beyond the reach of the lantern, and they are outlines. They are not reached and they are not seen properly, and that is how it should be.
They close the fifth chapter and open the sixth, which is not built. What the giants actually do, and in particular the one of them who is not chained, is written in the sheet for chapter six and not in a line of code.
