Chapter 1 · The Dark WoodtrophyPlayable
The Achievements
Twelve Steam achievements: the chapters, the way out, and what you carry in the book of names.
They exist only in the Steam version of the game. Ten of the titles are verses of the poem, in Longfellow’s translation on the English store and in Dante’s own words on the Italian one; the other two are the game’s words, and the first of them is the question Duccio asks you in the dark wood. The icons are printed in ink like the pages of the notebook, with a red frame once you take them: the figures are the game’s own models, and the diamonds are the ones of the weight.
Five come with the chapters and one with the way out. The others are read in the book of names: the first promise, the first name got with a lie, the first red diamond of the weight, and at the end what you carried out. The hardest asks for all twenty four names, Guido da Montefeltro’s too, which he gives only to those who lie to him: it means carrying the whole weight to the end. Its opposite is there too, coming out with a single name in the book, the one Nessus asks for at the ford. The way out and the single name count only in a game started from the dark wood: chosen from the chapter menu further down, a game starts with an empty book and the end close by. One achievement is hidden, and this page keeps it hidden too.
